The School of Physics and Electronics mainly focuses on condensed matter physics, optics, theoretical physics, computational physics, electronic information and other disciplines to carry out scientific research work, forming new energy materials and devices, optoelectronic materials and nanophotonics, and first-principles calculations for thermoelectric materials , Quantum Information and Ion Physics, Intelligent Sensing and Networks, and other special research directions. A research team led by provincial distinguished professors and a reasonable age structure has been established. It has the International Joint Key Laboratory of New Energy Materials and Devices of Henan Province and so on. The laboratory area is about 1155 square meters and the total value of equipment is nearly 34 million yuan.

In recent years, the scientific research capabilities of the School of Physics and Electronics have been rapidly improved and the scientific research results are fruitful. In the past five years, 35 projects were approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 33 provincial and ministerial projects were approved, and 16 horizontal projects were undertaken, including 2 achievements transformation, and a total of 26.05 million yuan in scientific research funds were received. It published more than 400 high-level papers, including nearly 350 SCI papers. 73 national invention patents are authorized. It won 4 scientific research awards at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including 2 second prizes. It has been approved 5 items for scientific and technological innovation talents of universities in Henan Province and 3 items for scientific and technological innovation teams of universities in Henan Province.
